anrgy cat
we took a stray cat, Guiness, in a while ago as he was desperately skinny and unloved. He also has a curly tail, I shall post a pic in another entry. Anyway, the murphy cat who's lived here since christmas 2000 when we got her from the rescue centre is constantly beating him up. He's about twice the soze of her lengthwise and she's about twice as fat. She teases him pretending to be friends and then lashes out and shouts at him. She's better now than she used to be but he still never knows what he's done wrong bless him.

morrisby test equals...
a load of bloomin' rubbish! It was so repetitive and boring. The last section included writing letter S as many times as possible in a space of time and then writing the letter S backwards etc. This was supposedly a personality thing! Huh? how can you get personality from the letter S?? anyway, I seem to be in a constant cycle of 2 steps forward 2 steps back with sparky. Hes back to throwing tantrums when leading to the field and just generally being a bum. Rgh, a i know why he's been in and out of so many homes before but I rpomised him I'd give him a home forever and love him too much to have it any other way. He's been through a lot and was beaten in one his previous homes, methinks by a man because whenever he walks behind my dad, if dad makes the slightest movement with his hand spark's head goes shooting into the air. He was also left in a stable for 2 days by himself, without hay and water(well there was hay and water at first, but not after 2 days!!) by a girl who had him on loan. Luckily my riding instructor told someone else to look after him and the girl got kicked off the yard. anyway, i cant rant too much, got an art video to make

all better now
it was just a little bit strained, he seemed fine on it today. He was a right little spooky thing though. He had a number of tantrums on the way to the field and then spent the couple of hour he was out bombing around and snorting. There must have been something going on(besides the wind, which wasn't helping matters...)so i decided not to ride, which i wasn't going to do anyway as I have a bad leg. It's actually quite creepy 'cause spark's bad leg was his off(right) hind and it seemed to be around the joint and my bad leg is my right knee-spooky. He escaped from the field too, decided that since my dad was in that field, he wanted to be too and knocked down the piece of wood which is currently acting as temporary gate. I had been watching from the caravan window and went out, calmly while my dad just panicked. All I did was ask the daft horse what he was doing and he walked straight over like "hello!". I put him straight in his stable as 'punishment' and just got him all groomed down etc. We have something called the Morisby test tommorrow. It's basically a personality test that shows your strengths and weaknesses and suggests career options. When my brother did it they suggested brewer. Interesting. We've already done the first part, which lasted 45 minutes. Tommorrows will last 3.25 hours(we're not clear on whether that means 1hr 25 mins or 1 hour 15 mins) with a 10 minute break! Ach!

bad leg
Regular readers will know that a while ago sparky had a bit of a stiff leg, but it soon got better. Well, yesterday he had it again and it went away. Today it was back again though, and when i rode him he was JUST limping in trot. I'll carry on riding him, just in walk and a little bit of trot, or even just leading him in walk until its better. It's not really bad, just strained I think. *touchwood*

trip to the vets
Now, I didn't know this, or believe it at first, but the first time a ferret comes into season, if they are not mated with, they will die. Milly went for her injection to prevent it happening today and the vet also recommended getting her spayed. The vets is just up the road from the farm and its about a five minute walk up the track to the back of the farm so me and my mam walked it. We asked about myxomatosis and vaccination now that my rabbit is living up there as there are loads of wild rabbits and the cats are always bringing them into the barn. My parents were saying he wouldn't be able to get it as hes so old(7 years now) but we asked and it was fine so we took the grumpy old man up and he got sorted. He wasn't speaking to me tonight though and wouldn't accept a treat. He eventually did though. Sparky was veeery lazy and was hardly putting any effort into what he was doing at all. So, tommorow I'm going to take him on a hack and see what he's like. If he's good I'm going to cut out his calming supplement. If he's naughty, I think i'll just cry with frustration. He seems to always be at one extreme, either really lazy or really excitable, rarely in between. Thing is though, he still jogs to the field. Ach, I don't understand him sometimes. The vet is out for sparky a week on tuesday, his coughing is getting rather bad now and yesterday he spat out chewed up food. That could have something to do with his laziness though...

He was 50% good 50% OK, but not too bad. At first he was just huffing at the idea of forward movement then working a little bit but letting me know how anoyed he was and how he'd rather be filling his belly. But I got a canter on the left leg, which he hardly ever does so I left it on that note, even though it wasn't when trying to canter on the left lead it was just through the field. Not much else to talk about really, been a rather uneventful week this one...
